WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAMMES?

The following information page is available about MOME’s full-time English-language MA programmes       


WHAT DOES IT MEAN THAT SOME MA PROGRAMMES WILL ONLY BE OFFERED IN ENGLISH IN 2024? WHO CAN APPLY?

Some MA programmes will only be available in English from 2024, which means that in addition to holding a BA degree certificate, at least B2 level English language proficiency will also be required. Application for both the self-funded and the state-funded programme is open to Hungarian and foreign citizens alike. Our other MA programmes are available only in Hungarian language.


I AM A FOREIGN CITIZEN. CAN I APPLY TO A STATE-FUNDED PROGRAMME?

Citizens of EEA countries and their family members, third-country citizens covered by Act LXII of 2001 on Hungarians Living in Neighbouring Countries or claiming to be Hungarian nationals, may be accepted for state-funded places the same way as Hungarian citizens. Applications for state-funded programmes can be submitted through the interface of felvi.hu by 15 February 2024.

Applying via felvi.hu- the central Hungarian application system is fully administered by the Educational Authority. Please note the below important information:

  • Foreign citizens who are accepted in a state-funded place must agree to the terms and conditions stated by the Hungarian Government. You can find information about the requirements of state-funded programmes here  
  • Please note that the interface of felvi.hu   is available only in Hungarian language. You may receive support from our admission office in the navigation of the site.
  • Your application via felvi.hu requires a validation upon submission. For this you need to create an eClientGate access with the Hungarian national electronic administration system.

HOW CAN I APPLY IF I HAVE DUAL CITIZENSHIP INCLUDING HUNGARIAN?

Applicants with dual citizenship, if one of them is Hungarian, must choose which citizenship they wish to use for the application. If they choose to use their Hungarian citizenship, they can only submit their applications through the interface of felvi.hu, by 15 February 2023. If they wish to use their foreign citizenship, see the questions and answers of this FAQ relating to application by foreign citizens. The citizenship chosen and used for the application must also be used for the academic work (later, no claim or reference to Hungarian citizenship can be made if Hungarian citizenship was not used for the application).


HOW MUCH WILL A SEMESTER COST IF I GET ACCEPTED FOR A SELF-FUNDED PROGRAMME?

The costs of self-funded programmes will be 2.000.000 HUF/semester for Hungarian citizens, EUR 5,000/semester for citizens of EEA countries, and EUR 12,000/semester for citizens of non-EEA countries.


IS THERE AN APPLICATION FEE?

Applicants applying through felvi.hu        central application system must follow felvi’s instructions regarding the payment and the deadline of the special procedural fee. International applicants applying through apply.mome.hu will have a 50 Euro application fee upon submitting their application. Please pay attention to the payment of the procedural fee either on felvi.hu or MOME’s application platform, as missing the payment of the application fee results in an invalid application.


ARE THERE DORM PLACES AVAILABLE?

Yes, dormitory places are available to students attending state-funded programmes and are awarded based on social situation. The dorm building is a 10-minute walk from the university and features double rooms. Each of the two floors in the dorm building has a shared kitchen and laundry room. There is also a large, shared lounge in the building. Each room has Internet access.

Our dormitory rooms bear a minimal monthly cost for the students, currently approximately 50 Euros. 


I ALREADY HAVE A DEGREE. CAN I APPLY FOR A STATE-FUNDED MASTER’S PROGRAMME?

Hungarian citizens and citizens of EEA countries who have not used up their 12-semester grant period in Hungary may apply for state-funded programmes regardless of whether they have already received a degree.


WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THE REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AND WHEN WILL I BE NOTIFIED OF WHETHER I HAVE RECEIVED IT?

Information and updates about the regional scholarship will be published on the website of the scholarship at mome.hu.      

The site will be updated with detailed information by the application deadline (31th May 2024).


WHAT TYPE OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION SHOULD I EXPECT? PHYSICAL OR ONLINE?

Admission interviews are conducted both face-to-face on the campus and online for our international applicants. All details of the examination procedure will be published on our university’s website in due course. 


WILL I GET NOTIFIED ABOUT THE DATE AND ROUNDS OF THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS?

For the most part, information about the dates and other requirements of the exams is available on the university’s website      . In addition, during the admission period applicants will receive close guidance and email notifications from our admission office on all steps, as well as consulting opportunities for professional advice.


HOW WILL THE SCORES BE CALCULATED FOR THE MA PROGRAMMES?

The maximum score for the MA entrance examinations is 99. Up to one additional point may be awarded for equal opportunities considerations.


I AM PLANNING TO APPLY TO AN MA PROGRAMME. CAN I DO THE TRAINING WHILE WORKING?

Our Master’s programmes are offered on a full-time basis with students’ presence required on weekdays during the day.


WHAT PRIOR QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED TO APPLY TO AN MA PROGRAMME?

The prerequisite for application is having a degree certificate (diploma). No other special prior qualifications are required, and prospective students are selected based on their talent and competence during the university’s admission procedures. Please note that  BA certificates obtained before the current academic year must be presented to us electronically the latest by April15th. If you are graduating from your BA programme this academic year you must provide an official transcript of all completed semesters and a letter from your university indicating the time of issuing your BA degree certificate. Without these documents we cannot guarantee the acceptance and processing of your application. 


I AM A FOREIGN CITIZEN. WILL I NEED A VISA FOR STUDYING IN HUNGARY? WILL THE UNIVERSITY ARRANGE MY VISA?

Citizens of the EU and EEA countries can study in Hungary visa free, 3rd country citizens may need to apply for a long-term visa (D visa) Our international applicants will receive detailed information and administrative support in their visa and residence permit arrangements once their acceptance to the programme is confirmed. WILL I NEED TO HAVE A TRANSLATION OF MY BACHELOR DEGREE FOR THE APPLICATION?

If your Bachelor degree and your official tranrscripts are issued in English, German or French you will not need a translation. If your degree certificate and the diploma supplements are issued in another language we will need an official Hungarian translation of your documents, the latest April 15th. This is to ensure that your certificate can be validated by the Hungarian NARIC for accreditation purposes.


WILL I NEED AN OFFICIAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE CERTIFICATE TO APPLY?

Applicants are not required to present an English language certificate, however a minimum B2, preferably C1 level knowleadge of English is necessary. Applicants’ language proficiency will be evaluated and assessed during the admission prosess and at the entry examination interview.
